{"id":25357,"date":"2025-07-06T15:17:51","date_gmt":"2025-07-06T09:47:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=25357"},"modified":"2025-07-07T17:39:05","modified_gmt":"2025-07-07T12:09:05","slug":"green-climate-fund","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/green-climate-fund\/","title":{"rendered":"Green Climate Fund"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Green Climate Fund Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Green Climate Fund (GCF) has approved over USD 120 million in new funding to strengthen climate resilience in Ghana, the Maldives, and Mauritania.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Green Climate Fund<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the world\u2019s <\/span><b>largest dedicated climate fund<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which was set up <\/span><b>at COP 16<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> held in Cancun in 2010.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is an operating entity of the financial mechanism of the <\/span><b>United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is mandated to support developing countries raise and <\/span><b>realize their Nationally Determined Contributions ambitions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> towards low-emissions, climate-resilient pathways.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It accelerates transformative climate action in developing countries through a country-owned partnership approach and use of flexible financing solutions and climate investment expertise.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A core GCF principle is to follow a country-driven approach, which means that developing countries lead GCF programming and implementation.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">GCF is mandated to invest 50% of its resources to mitigation and 50% to adaptation in grant equivalent.
