Following this<\/strong>, the <strong>vehicle has to undergo mandatory PUC tests <\/strong>at regular intervals to <strong>get a validity certificate.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>A PUC certificate is <strong>usually valid for a year<\/strong> from the date of issue.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Failure to produce a PUC certificate<\/strong> can invite a <strong>fine of up to Rs 10,000<\/strong> or <strong>six months of imprisonment<\/strong> or both under the <strong>Motor Vehicle Act.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>vehicle owner may <\/strong>also be <strong>disqualified from holding their licence<\/strong> for three months.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>If the vehicle<\/strong> is found to be <strong>emitting fumes beyond<\/strong> the <strong>prescribed limit<\/strong>, despite possessing a valid PUC certificate, the <strong>certificate will be cancelled.<\/strong> The vehicle owner will have to obtain a new PUC certificate within seven days.<\/li>\n<li>The PUC certificate rule is <strong>applicable to CNG-powered vehiclesin addition to petrol and diesel vehicles.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>How to get PUC certificate?<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>A PUC certificate can be obtained <strong>from a government-authorised emission test centre<\/strong> with a computerised facility.<\/li>\n<li>The issuance of an emission test certificate involves a <strong>thorough examination of<\/strong> the <strong>vehicle\u2019s exhaust gas<\/strong>, and the <strong>test results are mentioned in<\/strong> the <strong>PUC certificate<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1<\/strong>: What is the Motor Vehicle Act of 1988?<\/h3>\n<p>It is a comprehensive Act that has replaced the Motor Vehicle Act, 1939. It was implemented on 1st July 1989.
