


{"id":25676,"date":"2024-08-08T12:49:02","date_gmt":"2024-08-08T07:19:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=25676"},"modified":"2025-10-10T12:23:31","modified_gmt":"2025-10-10T06:53:31","slug":"pyrocumulonimbus-cloud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/pyrocumulonimbus-cloud\/","title":{"rendered":"Pyrocumulonimbus cloud"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>What is a Cumulonimbus Cloud (Cb)?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a <strong>heavy and dense cloud<\/strong> of <strong>considerable vertical extent<\/strong> in the <strong>form of a mountain or huge tower<\/strong>, often associated with <strong>heavy precipitation, lightning,<\/strong> and <strong>thunder<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>More commonly known as<strong> thunderclouds<\/strong>, cumulonimbus is the <strong>only cloud type<\/strong> that can<strong> produce hail, thunder, and lightning<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>base<\/strong> of the cloud <strong>is often flat<\/strong>, with a very<strong> dark wall-like feature hanging underneath,<\/strong> and may only <strong>lie a few hundred feet above<\/strong> the <strong>Earth&#8217;s surface<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>vertical extent<\/strong> of Cumulonimbus ranges from <strong>3 km to rarely more than 15 km<\/strong> (10 000 \u2013 50 000 ft).<\/li>\n<li>Cb <strong>forms when three conditions<\/strong> are met:<\/li>\n<li>There must be a <strong>deep layer of unstable air<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>air must be warm and moist<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>A <strong>trigger mechanism<\/strong> must<strong> cause the warm, moist air to rise<\/strong>:<\/li>\n<li><strong>Heating<\/strong> of the <strong>layer of air close to<\/strong> the <strong>surface<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Rising ground forcing the air upwards (<strong>orographic uplift<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<li>A <strong>front forcing the air upwards.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>About Pyrocumulonimbus Clouds:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>They are <strong>thunder cloud screated by intense heat from<\/strong> the <strong>Earth\u2019s surface.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>They are <strong>formed similarly to cumulonimbus clouds<\/strong>, but the <strong>intense heat<\/strong> that results in the vigorous updraft <strong>comes from fire,<\/strong> either large wildfires or volcanic eruptions.<\/li>\n<li>So it is, for this reason, the prefix \u2018pyro\u2019 is used \u2013 meaning fire in Greek.<\/li>\n<li>They <strong>look much darker than typical clouds<\/strong> because of their <strong>large amounts of smoke and ash.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Pyrocumulonimbus clouds are thought to be <strong>responsible for several aerosol pollutants<\/strong> (such as smoke and ash) trapped in <strong>the stratosphere<\/strong> and <strong>upper atmosphere<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>And <strong>sometimes, lightning strikes generated<\/strong> from them even can <strong>ignite additional fires.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1<\/strong>: What are Cirrus Clouds?<\/h3>\n<p>Cirrus Clouds\u00a0are delicate, feathery clouds that are made mostly of ice crystals. They are thin and wispy in appearance, often appearing as delicate, high-altitude filaments or strands. Their wispy shape comes from wind currents, which twist and spread the ice crystals into strands. They are usually white or have a light gray color. In the daytime, they are whiter than any other cloud in the sky.
