text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a flagship intervention of the <\/span><b>Ministry of Tribal Affairs,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Government of India, to provide <\/span><b>quality residential education to Scheduled Tribes students from Class 6th to 12th in remote areas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to enable them to access the best opportunities in education and to bring them at par with the general population.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The programme has been in <\/span><b>operation since 1998 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and was <\/span><b>revamped during the year 2018-19 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to expand the geographical outreach and enhance the quality of facilities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">EMRSs will be set up i<\/span><b>n every block with more than 50% ST population and at least 20,000 tribal persons.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accordingly, the Ministry has set the <\/span><b>target to set up 728 EMRSs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> across the country by the year 2026.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS), an autonomous organization,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has been set up <\/span><b>under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to establish and <\/span><b>manage EMRS across the country.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Eklavya Model Residential Schools <\/b><b>Features<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">EMRSs are<\/span><b> co-educational residential schools <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">from<\/span><b> Class VI to XII.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Eklavya schools will be on p<\/span><b>ar with Navodaya Vidyalayas <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and will have special facilities for preserving local art and culture besides providing training in sports and skill development.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The school infrastructure will include <\/span><b>classroom, administrative block<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>hostels for boys and girls, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">playground,<\/span><b> accommodation for teaching and non-teaching staff, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Labs etc. facilities catering to the need of academic education as well as extracurricular activities.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>CBSE curriculum <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is followed in these schools, and <\/span><b>education is completely free.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Each school <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has a <\/span><b>capacity of 480 students <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with an e<\/span><b>qual number of seats for boys and girls.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;
