Dermatophytosis<\/strong> is the superficial <strong>infection of the skin, hair, and nails<\/strong> by dermatophyte fungi.<\/li>\n<li><strong>T. indotineae causes inflammatory and itchy, often widespread, dermatophytosis<\/strong> affecting the groins, gluteal region, trunk, and face.<\/li>\n<li>Patients of all ages and genders are affected.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Transmission<\/strong>: Spreads through <strong>direct skin contact and contaminated objects<\/strong> (e.g., towels, clothing).<\/li>\n<li>It is <strong>resistant against<\/strong> the <strong>first-line antifungal agent terbinafine.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1: What kills dermatophytes?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The first oral agent used to treat a dermatophyte infection was griseofulvin, introduced in clinical practice in 1958 [7]. This molecule interferes with microtubule formation, thus impairing fungal growth and cell division.
