{"id":2586,"date":"2024-06-28T05:53:50","date_gmt":"2024-06-28T00:23:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=2586"},"modified":"2025-03-25T22:42:58","modified_gmt":"2025-03-25T17:12:58","slug":"what-is-the-juno-probe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/what-is-the-juno-probe\/","title":{"rendered":"What is the Juno Probe?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Juno Probe:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>JUNO is an acronym for <strong>Jupiter Near-Polar Orbiter.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is a <strong>NASA spacecraft<\/strong> designed to <strong>orbit the planet Jupiter<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Juno was launched by an Atlas V rocket from Cape Canaveral, Florida, on August 5, 2011.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The Juno spacecraft initially embarked on a 5-year journey to the largest planet in our solar system, Jupiter.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Main Goal: Learn<\/strong> more <strong>about Jupiter\u2019s origins<\/strong> and how the planet has changed.<\/li>\n<li>Since it arrived at Jupiter in 2016, it has been <strong>probing beneath the dense<\/strong>, forbidding <strong>clouds encircling the giant planet<\/strong> \u2013 the <strong>first orbiter to peer so closely<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Juno orbits Jupiter every 11 days in a highly elliptical orbit (4,400 by 2,700,000 km [2,700 by 1,700,000 miles]) over the planet\u2019s poles.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>It is <strong>solar-powered.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Though Juno\u2019s <strong>primary mission wrapped in<\/strong> July <strong>2021<\/strong>, it\u2019s been granted an <strong>extended mission<\/strong> that\u2019s expected to end in 2025.<\/li>\n<li>During the extended mission, Juno is exploring even more of the Jupiter system, including some of the planet\u2019s most intriguing moons: Ganymede, Europa, and Io. Juno will also investigate Jupiter\u2019s atmosphere and rings in greater detail.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1: What are lava lakes?<\/h3>\n<p>Lava lakes are lakes of molten or solidified lava in volcanic craters or depressions. They may form when a vent or crater becomes partially filled with molten lava.
