It is the <strong>highest trekking peak in Nepal.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is <strong>surrounded by glaciers.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It <strong>dominates<\/strong> the <strong>watershed between<\/strong> the heavily <strong>wooded valleys of the Hinku and Hongu Drangkas.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It <strong>overlooksfive<\/strong> of the <strong>world\u2019s highest mountains<\/strong>: <strong>Kanchenjunga<\/strong> (8586m), <strong>Lhotse<\/strong> (8516m), <strong>Makalu<\/strong> (8463m), <strong>Cho Oyu<\/strong> (8201m), and, <strong>Everest<\/strong> (8848m).<\/li>\n<li>It is known as the <strong>gateway to Everest<\/strong>. It sits on the <strong>southeastern side of<\/strong> the <strong>Everest<\/strong> region.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Mera Peak <strong>has 3 distinct summits,<\/strong> and they are North Mera Peak (6,476m\/21,240 ft), Central Mera Peak (6,461m\/21,190 ft), and South Mera Peak (6064m\/19890 ft).\n<ul>\n<li>Generally, trekkers climb to Mera Central, although the <strong>highest one is Mera North Peak.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Mera Peak was first climbed in 1953 by Col.
