{"id":26001,"date":"2024-08-22T10:27:22","date_gmt":"2024-08-22T04:57:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=26001"},"modified":"2025-04-07T22:55:01","modified_gmt":"2025-04-07T17:25:01","slug":"prime-minister-employment-generation-programme-pmegp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/prime-minister-employment-generation-programme-pmegp\/","title":{"rendered":"Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About PMEGP:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>PMEGP is a <strong>central sector scheme administered<\/strong> by the <strong>Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Objectives:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>To generate employment opportunities in rural as well as urban areas of the country through setting up of new self-employment ventures\/projects\/micro enterprises.<\/li>\n<li>To bring together widely dispersed traditional artisans, rural and urban unemployed youth and give them self-employment opportunities to the extent possible, at their place.<\/li>\n<li>To provide continuous and sustainable employment to a large segment of traditional and prospective artisans and rural and urban unemployed youth in the country, so as to help arrest migration of rural youth to urban areas.<\/li>\n<li>To increase the wage-earning capacity of workers and artisans and contribute to increase in the growth rate of rural and urban employment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Eligibility:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Individuals <strong>above 18 years of age.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>There will be no income ceiling for assistance for setting up projects under PMEGP.<\/li>\n<li>For setting up of projects costing above <strong>10 lakh in the Manufacturing sector<\/strong> and above <strong>Rs. 5 lakh in the Business \/Service sector<\/strong>, the beneficiaries should possess at least VIII standard pass educational qualification.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Implementing Agency<\/strong>: Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>About Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a <strong>statutory body<\/strong> established under the <strong>Khadi and Village Industries Commission Act of 1956.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is an apex organization under the <strong>Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, <\/strong>with regard to khadi and village industries within India.<\/li>\n<li>The KVIC is charged with the <strong>planning, promotion, organisation and implementation of programmes for the development of Khadi and other village industries in rural areas<\/strong> in coordination with other agencies engaged in rural development wherever necessary.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>he Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) aims to create job opportunities by supporting new businesses through financial assistance and subsidies.
