{"id":26079,"date":"2024-08-26T06:27:40","date_gmt":"2024-08-26T00:57:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=26079"},"modified":"2025-04-07T23:30:10","modified_gmt":"2025-04-07T18:00:10","slug":"alpkarakush-kyrgyzicus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/alpkarakush-kyrgyzicus\/","title":{"rendered":"What is Alpkarakush kyrgyzicus?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Alpkarakush kyrgyzicus:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a <strong>new species of<\/strong> large <strong>theropod dinosaur discovered in<\/strong> the Middle Jurassic Balabansai formation in the northern part of the <strong>Fergana Depression, Kyrgyzstan<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It roamed our planet during the <strong>Callovian age oftheJurassic period<\/strong> between <strong>165 and 161 million years ago.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The ancient predator was 7 to 8 m in body length, and had an <strong>extremely protruding \u2018eyebrow\u2019<\/strong> on the so-called postorbital bone, a <strong>skull bone behind the eye opening<\/strong>, which <strong>indicates the presence of a horn<\/strong> at this point.<\/li>\n<li>It <strong>belongs to<\/strong> Metriacanthosauridae, a group of medium-to large-sized allosauroid <strong>theropod dinosaurs<\/strong> that are <strong>characterized by high arched skulls<\/strong>, plate-like elongate neural spines, and <strong>slender hindlimbs.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Theropod dinosaurs are one of the <strong>most important large groups of dinosaurs<\/strong>, <strong>including<\/strong> well-<strong>known predators<\/strong> such as <strong>Tyrannosaurus and Allosaurus<\/strong>, <strong>as well as modern birds.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Alpkarakush kyrgyzicus is also the <strong>first large Jurassic predatory dinosaur<\/strong> ever <strong>unearthed between central Europe and East Asia.<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1<\/strong>: What is the Fergana Depression?<\/h3>\n<p>The Fergana depression is an intra- orogenic intermountain depression.
