


{"id":26227,"date":"2024-09-01T05:50:19","date_gmt":"2024-09-01T00:20:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=26227"},"modified":"2025-04-08T00:35:54","modified_gmt":"2025-04-07T19:05:54","slug":"poba-reserve-forest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/poba-reserve-forest\/","title":{"rendered":"Poba Reserve Forest"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Poba Reserve Forest:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a <strong>rainforest located<\/strong> in the <strong>northeastern part of Assam.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The Reserved Forest (RF) was created in the year 1924 and covers an area of 10,221 hectares.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Boundaries<\/strong>: <strong>Towards the north<\/strong> are the <strong>foothills of the Himalayan range in Arunachal Pradesh; towards the east and south<\/strong> are the <strong>Siang, Dibang, and Lohit River systems<\/strong> confluence into the mighty Brahmaputra <strong>and the Dibru-Saikhowa National Park;<\/strong> and towards the west are the revenue villages of the Jonai Sub-division of the Dhemaji district of Assam.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The peripheral area<\/strong> of the RF is <strong>inhabited by <\/strong>a few <strong>ethnic groups, such as Mising, Bodo, Sonowal Kachari, and Hajong<\/strong> (Rabha).\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>It is one of <strong>the richest rain forests of North-East India<\/strong> in terms of the flora and fauna found in it.<\/li>\n<li>It is home to various <strong>arboreal species<\/strong>, including the <strong>slow loris<\/strong> and <strong>capped langur<\/strong>. Among the most common mammal species is the <strong>wild boar.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The forest is also a habitat for about 45 species of birds and reptiles, and the <strong>confluence of the Siang and Lohit rivers<\/strong> supports a diverse range of fish species.<\/li>\n<li>The forest is renowned for its <strong>variety of orchids.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It serves as an <strong>important migratory route for<\/strong> various animals, particularly <strong>elephants<\/strong>, as <strong>it connects<\/strong> the <strong>D&#8217; Ering Memorial Wildlife Sanctuary<\/strong> (Arunachal Pradesh), Kabu Chapri Proposed Reserve Forest, and <strong>Dibru-Saikhowa National Park (Assam).<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>This corridor is the <strong>second significant elephant migration route from the north to the south bank of<\/strong> the <strong>Brahmaputra<\/strong> River, the <strong>other being the Panpur-Kaziranga route.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1.
