{"id":26306,"date":"2024-09-04T09:30:42","date_gmt":"2024-09-04T04:00:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=26306"},"modified":"2025-04-08T01:10:10","modified_gmt":"2025-04-07T19:40:10","slug":"phrynarachne-decipiens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/phrynarachne-decipiens\/","title":{"rendered":"Phrynarachne decipiens"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Phrynarachne decipiens:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is better known as the <strong>bird dung or bird-dropping crab spider<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Distribution:<\/strong> It was known to be distributed in <strong>Malaysia and Indonesia\u2019s<\/strong> Java and Sumatra.<\/li>\n<li>It has been <strong>recorded <\/strong>for the <strong>first time<\/strong> in the country from Assam\u2019s Sonapur in the Kamrup (Metropolitan) district and the Chirang Reserve Forest in the Kokrajhar district.<\/li>\n<li>The spider is usually seen lying motionless 1-2 ft above the ground on the upper side of broad leaves.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>chalky white colour<\/strong> of the spider and <strong>whitish deposition <\/strong>(its web) on the leaves, looking like bird excreta, make it very <strong>difficult to be sighted<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Feature:<\/strong> It has the <strong>stout spermathecae<\/strong> (a sac-like organ in the female reproductive tract that stores sperm received during copulation) with posterior heads almost touching each other.\n<ul>\n<li>The genus Phrynarachne presently consists of <strong>35 accepted species<\/strong> of which three \u2013 P. ceylonica, P. ceeliana, and P.
