


{"id":26396,"date":"2026-06-24T11:00:32","date_gmt":"2026-06-24T05:30:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=26396"},"modified":"2026-06-24T16:47:47","modified_gmt":"2026-06-24T11:17:47","slug":"key-facts-about-sahariya-tribe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/key-facts-about-sahariya-tribe\/","title":{"rendered":"Sahariya Tribe"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Sahariya Tribe Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The President recently interacted with Cheetah Mitras and members of the Sahariya tribe at Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh\u2019s Sheopur district. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Sahariya Tribe<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is one of the <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/particularly-vulnerable-tribal-groups-pvtgs\/\" target=\"_blank\">Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG)<\/a>.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They are also called by the <\/span><b>names Seher, Sair, Savar, Saonar, Sahra, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They live on the<\/span><b> margins \u2014 in the forests and villages of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They mostly live in a <\/span><b>distinct settlement called \u2018Seharana\u2019<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which is generally a <\/span><b>cluster of houses.<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>houses <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are <\/span><b>made of some stone boulders,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the <\/span><b>roofing <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is also made of <\/span><b>stone slabs \u2013 locally called Patore.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In some villages, mud structures are also constructed.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Language<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: While the Sahariyas have <\/span><b>lost their original language, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">they speak the local <\/span><b>dialects of the regions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> they inhabit.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Religion<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: They <\/span><b>practice Hinduism<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> infused with veneration of<\/span><b> local deities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> like Bhavani, Gond Devta, and Bijasur, <\/span><b>alongside animistic elements<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> tied to their jungle-dwelling heritage\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Saharia are divided into<\/span><b> five sub-tribe<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">s: the <\/span><b>Jati, Arsi, Muli, Kindal, and Kumbi.\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This classification is <\/span><b>based primarily on occupation.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Jati <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are <\/span><b>farmers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">; the <\/span><b>Arsi <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are <\/span><b>weavers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">; the<\/span><b> Muli<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are i<\/span><b>ron worker<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">s;
