{"id":26412,"date":"2024-09-08T06:26:31","date_gmt":"2024-09-08T00:56:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=26412"},"modified":"2025-04-08T01:57:01","modified_gmt":"2025-04-07T20:27:01","slug":"indiasize-initiative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/indiasize-initiative\/","title":{"rendered":"What is INDIAsize Initiative?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About INDIAsize Initiative:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is an <strong>initiative of the Ministry of Textiles<\/strong> which aims <strong>to establish standardized measurements designed<\/strong> to <strong>better suit Indian body types.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Need<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Presently<\/strong>, international and domestic <strong>brands available in India use measurements from<\/strong> the <strong>US or the UK for garments<\/strong>, having &#8216;small&#8217;, &#8216;medium&#8217; and &#8216;large&#8217; sizes.<\/li>\n<li>However, <strong>Western body types differ from Indians<\/strong> in terms of height, weight, or specific measurements of body parts.<\/li>\n<li>It <strong>fails to account for the diversity in Indian body types<\/strong>, leading to frequent fitting issues and consumer dissatisfaction.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The Ministry of Textiles sanctioned the <strong>INDIAsize project<\/strong> to <strong>develop standard body sizes for the Indian apparel sector<\/strong> to address the prevailing disparities and inconsistencies in provided fits.<\/li>\n<li>The project entails <strong>gathering anthropometric data pan India<\/strong> from more than 25000 (Twenty-Five Thousand) male and female persons between the age group of 15 years and 65 years <strong>using human safe 3D whole body scanning technology<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>created body size chart<\/strong> will <strong>help national and international retailers<\/strong> and manufacturers <strong>to produce goods which are best suited for Indian body types<\/strong> and create a balance between demand and supply of well fitted garments.<\/li>\n<li>Once rolled out, INDIAsize will <strong>serve as a benchmark for Indian and international fashion brands <\/strong>selling in the country.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1<\/strong>: What is anthropometric data?<\/h3>\n<p>Anthropometric data are data on human body size and shape and are the basis upon which all digital human models are constructed. All aspects of the utility of a human model are therefore governed by its anthropometric characteristics.
