{"id":26521,"date":"2026-03-31T14:00:46","date_gmt":"2026-03-31T08:30:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=26521"},"modified":"2026-03-31T14:15:29","modified_gmt":"2026-03-31T08:45:29","slug":"pm-e-drive-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/pm-e-drive-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"PM e-Drive Scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>PM e-Drive Scheme Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Ministry of Heavy Industries has extended subsidies for electric two-wheelers till 31 July 2026, and for electric rikshaw and electric carts till 31 March 2028 under the PM E- DRIVE scheme.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About PM e-Drive Scheme<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>PM E-DRIVE (Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> scheme is a flagship initiative launched in October 2024.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It came into effect from October 1, 2024.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Its primary aim is to <\/span><b>accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (EVs), establish charging infrastructure, and build a robust EV manufacturing ecosystem in the country.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The key objective is to <\/span><b>speed up the transition to EVs <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">by offering upfront incentives for EV purchases and encouraging the development of charging infrastructure.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The PM E-DRIVE scheme to be <\/span><b>implemented through the following key components:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Subsidies:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Demand incentives to be provided for electric vehicles such as <\/span><b>e-2 wheelers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (e-2W), e-3 wheelers (e-3W), e-ambulances, e-trucks, and other emerging categories of EVs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Grants for creation of capital assets:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Funding to be provided for the acquisition of electric buses (e-buses), the <\/span><b>establishment of a comprehensive network of charging stations<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and the upgrading testing facilities of the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Administration of the Scheme including IEC (Information, Education &amp;
