


{"id":26704,"date":"2026-09-09T12:12:58","date_gmt":"2026-09-09T06:42:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=26704"},"modified":"2026-09-09T16:24:47","modified_gmt":"2026-09-09T10:54:47","slug":"trishna-mission","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/trishna-mission\/","title":{"rendered":"TRISHNA Mission"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>TRISHNA Mission Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The PSLV is scheduled to launch the Indo-French TRISHNA mission next year which is a collaborative endeavor between ISRO and CNES.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About TRISHNA Mission<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The TRISHNA (<\/span><b>Thermal Infra-Red Imaging Satellite for High-resolution Natural Resource Assessment)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> mission, is a <\/span><b>collaborative endeavor<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> between the Indian Space Research Organisation (<\/span><b>ISRO<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) and the<\/span><b> French Space Agency<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Centre National d\u2019Etudes Spatiales (<\/span><b>CNES<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is engineered to <\/span><b>deliver high spatial and high temporal resolution monitoring of Earth&#8217;s surface temperature,<\/b> <b>emissivity,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> biophysical and radiation variables for <\/span><b>surface energy budgeting<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at regional to global scale.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Objectives<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Detailed <\/span><b>monitoring of the energy and water budgets<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the continental biosphere for <\/span><b>quantifying terrestrial water stress <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>water use.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">High-resolution <\/span><b>observation of water quality and dynamics <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in <\/span><b>coastal and inland waters.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A comprehensive assessment of <\/span><b>urban heat islands detection of thermal anomalies <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">linked to volcanic activity and geothermal resources.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Precise<\/span><b> monitoring of snow-melt runoff <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>glacier dynamics.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Provide valuable<\/span><b> data on aerosol optical depth<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>atmospheric water vapor,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and cloud cover.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Payloads<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: TRISHNA satellite is equipped with <\/span><b>two primary payloads.<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Thermal Infra-Red (TIR) Payload:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is <\/span><b>provided by CNES and<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> features a four-channel long-wave infrared imaging sensor capable of high-resolution surface temperature and emissivity mapping.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>The Visible \u2013 Near Infra-Red \u2013 ShortWave Infra-Red (VNIR-SWIR) payload: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is <\/span><b>developed by ISRO,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> includes seven spectral bands designed for detailed mapping of surface reflectance of VSWIR bands for generating important biophysical and radiation budget variables.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The satellite will operate in a <\/span><b>sun-synchronous orbit<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at an altitude of 761 km.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This orbit will provide a spatial resolution of 57 meters for land and coastal areas and 1 km for oceanic and polar regions.
