It was established in 1865 as the International Telegraph Union.<\/li>\n<li>In 1947 the ITU became a specialized agency of the United Nations. It is an intergovernmental organization that coordinates between governments and private sector bodies with respect to global telecommunication and information communication technology (ICT) services.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Member countries:<\/strong> It has a membership of <strong>193 countries<\/strong> and more than 1000 companies, universities and international and regional organizations.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Functions:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>allocate global radio spectrum and satellite orbits;<\/li>\n<li>coordination and setting of technical standards related to telecommunication\/ICT;<\/li>\n<li>work to improve access to ICTs in underserved communities worldwide;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>India and ITU:<\/strong> India has been an active member of the <strong>ITU since 1869<\/strong> and has been a regular member of the <strong>ITU Council since 1952.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Headquarters:<\/strong> Geneva, Switzerland.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1: What is Cybersecurity?<\/h3>\n<p>It is the practice of defending computers, servers, mobile devices, electronic systems, networks, and data from malicious attacks.
