Observers from Kenya and Tanzania\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Goa Maritime Symposium (GMS)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It was conceptualised and instituted by the <strong>Indian Navy in 2016.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is a forum for fostering collaborative thinking, cooperation and mutual understanding between India and key maritime nations of the <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/indian-ocean-rim-association\/\" target=\"_blank\">Indian Ocean Region (IOR)<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>The symposium is <strong>conducted biennially<\/strong> by the Naval War College (NWC), Goa.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1: What is the Indian Ocean Rim Association?<\/h3>\n<p>It was established in 1997 as an intergovernmental organisation of States on the rim of the Indian Ocean. It has members from Africa, West Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia ,Europe and Oceania.
