{"id":26801,"date":"2024-09-23T09:34:30","date_gmt":"2024-09-23T04:04:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=26801"},"modified":"2025-10-07T15:42:38","modified_gmt":"2025-10-07T10:12:38","slug":"quad-cancer-moonshot-initiative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/quad-cancer-moonshot-initiative\/","title":{"rendered":"Quad Cancer Moonshot Initiative"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Quad Cancer Moonshot Initiative:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It was launched bythe <strong>QUAD countries<\/strong> (India, United States, Australia and Japan).<\/li>\n<li>It is aimed at implementing innovative strategies to prevent, detect, treat and alleviate the <strong>impact of cancer<\/strong> on patients and their families.<\/li>\n<li>It will focus on <strong>expanding cervical cancer screening<\/strong>; increasing vaccinations against the <strong>human papillomavirus, or HPV, <\/strong>a common sexually transmitted infection that is the primary cause of cervical cancer; and treating patients.<\/li>\n<li><strong>India\u2019s contribution<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>India will, additionally, offer technical assistance to interested countries in the Indo-Pacific region on DPI for cancer screening, care and continuum through its <strong>US $10 million contribution<\/strong> to WHO\u2019s-Global Initiative on Digital Health.<\/li>\n<li>India commits to providing <strong>HPV sampling kits<\/strong>, detection tools and cervical cancer vaccines <strong>worth $7.5 million<\/strong> to the Indo-Pacific region.<\/li>\n<li>India is working on an <strong>AI based treatment protocol<\/strong> for the disease.<\/li>\n<li>India will provide support for <strong>radiotherapy treatment and capacity building<\/strong> for cancer prevention in the Indo-Pacific.<\/li>\n<li>This significant contribution aims to strengthen local efforts to prevent and detect cervical cancer and empower communities with affordable, accessible tools for early detection and prevention, while supporting vaccination programs to reduce the disease burden across the region.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is a Virus?<\/h3>\n<p>It is an infectious microbe consisting of a segment of nucleic acid (either DNA or RNA) surrounded by a protein coat.
