


{"id":26929,"date":"2024-09-29T04:39:04","date_gmt":"2024-09-28T23:09:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=26929"},"modified":"2025-04-08T05:49:43","modified_gmt":"2025-04-08T00:19:43","slug":"sea-robins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/sea-robins\/","title":{"rendered":"What are Sea Robins?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Sea Robins:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Sea robins belong to a family of <strong>ray-finned fish <\/strong>called <strong>Triglids<\/strong>, which inhabit diverse habitats ranging from shallow salt marshes to deep oceans around the world.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>They are found in <strong>warm and temperate seas<\/strong> of the world.<\/li>\n<li>Most Triglidae fish are <strong>benthic specialists<\/strong> that spend much of their time on the ocean bottom, where they hunt in the sand for fish, crustaceans, and other invertebrates.<\/li>\n<li>To facilitate their benthic lifestyle, sea robins have evolved a number of bizarre traits, the most <strong>iconic<\/strong> of which are their <strong>six leg-like appendages.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>They are <strong>elongated fish<\/strong> with <strong>armoured bony heads<\/strong> and <strong>two dorsal fins.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Sea Robins get their <strong>name from <\/strong>their <strong>large wing-like pectoral fins.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>When excited or <strong>threatened<\/strong>, the Sea Robin will <strong>fan these fins out to look bigger<\/strong> and help it to <strong>blend in with the sandy bottom.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>These <strong>fins open and close while the fish swims<\/strong> much like a bird in flight.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Some sea robins are <strong>scaly<\/strong>; the bodies of others are covered with bony plates.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>They are usually <strong>brightly coloured<\/strong>, and some have ornately patterned pectoral fins.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>They are also <strong>vocal<\/strong> and can <strong>produce audible sounds<\/strong> with their swim bladders and certain attached muscles.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1<\/strong>: What are benthic animals?<\/h3>\n<p>Benthic animals are the organisms who live at the lowest level of a body of water such as a lake or ocean. They are sometimes called benthos, and can even be permanently attached to the bottom of the water bodies. These animals have adapted to several niches and have incredibly different appearances and behavior, bringing a clear picture of the diversity of the marine life to the forefront.
