{"id":26990,"date":"2024-10-02T08:03:48","date_gmt":"2024-10-02T02:33:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=26990"},"modified":"2025-04-08T06:17:57","modified_gmt":"2025-04-08T00:47:57","slug":"jal-hi-amrit-programme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/jal-hi-amrit-programme\/","title":{"rendered":"Jal Hi AMRIT Programme"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Jal Hi AMRIT Programme:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It was launched under the <strong>AMRUT 2.0 scheme.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Under this initiative, it is envisaged to <strong>incentivise State &amp; UTs<\/strong> to manage the used water (sewage) <strong>treatment plants<\/strong> (UWTPs\/ STPs) efficiently for ensuring recyclable good quality treated water, meeting environmental standards, on a sustained basis.<\/li>\n<li>The purpose of the exercise is to <strong>build competition among the cities<\/strong>, develop capacities and incentivise them to attain the best quality of used treated water at the treatment facilities.<\/li>\n<li>The main focus is thus on capacity building &amp; incentivizing qualitative improvements in the treated discharge effluent.<\/li>\n<li>A mid-course assessment and water quality testing will be conducted, culminating in a final assessment &amp; award of Clean Water Credits in terms <strong>of Star-rating<\/strong> (between 3 stars to 5 stars) certificate valid for <strong>six months.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Key facts about AMRUT 2.0 scheme<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It was launched for a period of <strong>five years,<\/strong> from the <strong>financial year 2021-22<\/strong> to the financial year 2025-26.<\/li>\n<li>It is designed to provide <strong>universal coverage of water supply<\/strong> through functional taps to all households in all the statutory towns in the country and coverage of sewage\/septage management in 500 cities covered in the first phase of the AMRUT scheme.<\/li>\n<li>AMRUT 2.0 will promote a circular economy of water through the development of the City Water Balance Plan (CWBP) for each city focusing on recycle\/reuse of treated sewage, the rejuvenation of water bodies, and water conservation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1: What is the AMRUT Scheme?<\/h3>\n<p>It was launched by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs on 25th June 2015, in 500 selected cities and towns across the country.
