{"id":27061,"date":"2024-10-05T01:16:17","date_gmt":"2024-10-04T19:46:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=27061"},"modified":"2025-04-08T06:49:46","modified_gmt":"2025-04-08T01:19:46","slug":"national-agriculture-code","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/national-agriculture-code\/","title":{"rendered":"National Agriculture Code"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About National Agriculture Code:\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It will cover the\u00a0<strong>entire agriculture cycle<\/strong>, and will also contain a guidance note for future standardisation.<\/li>\n<li>The code will have\u00a0<strong>two parts.\u00a0<\/strong>The first will contain\u00a0<strong>general principles for all crops<\/strong>, and the second will deal\u00a0<strong>with crop-specific standards<\/strong>\u00a0for the likes of paddy, wheat, oilseeds, and pulses.<\/li>\n<li>The NAC will\u00a0<strong>serve as a guide for farmers<\/strong>, agriculture universities, and officials involved in the field.<\/li>\n<li>It will cover all agriculture processes and post-harvest operations, such as crop selection, land preparation, sowing\/transplanting, irrigation\/drainage, soil health management, plant health management, harvesting\/threshing, primary processing, post-harvest, sustainability, and record maintenance.<\/li>\n<li>It will also\u00a0<strong>include standards for input management<\/strong>, like use of chemical fertilisers, pesticides, and weedicides, as well as standards for crop storage and traceability.<\/li>\n<li>Crucially, the NAC will cover all new and\u00a0<strong>emerging areas like natural farming and organic farming<\/strong>, as well as the use of Internet-of-Things in the field of agriculture.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Objectives<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Create an\u00a0<strong>implementable national code<\/strong>\u00a0covering recommendations for agriculture practices taking agroclimatic zones, crop type, socio economic diversity of the country and all aspects of agrifood value chain into consideration;<\/li>\n<li>To\u00a0<strong>act as an enabler of quality culture in Indian agriculture<\/strong>\u00a0by providing the required reference to policy makers, agriculture departments and regulators for incorporating the provisions of NAC in their schemes, policies, or regulations;<\/li>\n<li>To create a\u00a0<strong>comprehensive guide for the farming community<\/strong>\u00a0to ensure effective decision making in agricultural practices;<\/li>\n<li>To\u00a0<strong>integrate relevant Indian Standards<\/strong>\u00a0with recommended agricultural practices.<\/li>\n<li>To address the\u00a0<strong>horizontal aspects of agriculture<\/strong>\u00a0such as SMART farming, sustainability, traceability and documentation;
