{"id":27124,"date":"2024-10-08T01:01:11","date_gmt":"2024-10-07T19:31:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=27124"},"modified":"2025-10-10T13:12:15","modified_gmt":"2025-10-10T07:42:15","slug":"ni-kshay-poshan-yojana-npy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/ni-kshay-poshan-yojana-npy\/","title":{"rendered":"What is Ni-kshay Poshan Yojana (NPY)?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Ni-kshay Poshan Yojana (NPY):<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>NPY was launched by the <strong>Ministry of Health and Family Welfare<\/strong> (MoH&amp;FW) as a <strong>centrally sponsored scheme under the National Health Mission<\/strong> (NHM) in April 2018.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>It is a <strong>direct benefit transfer<\/strong> (DBT) scheme under the <strong>National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP)<\/strong> in India.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Objective<\/strong>: Provides <strong>incentives for nutritional support to <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/tuberculosis-in-india-cases-challenges-national-eradication-plan\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>tuberculosis (TB)<\/strong><\/a><strong> patients.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Beneficiary<\/strong>: <strong>All notified TB patients <\/strong>are beneficiaries of the scheme.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Eligibility<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>All patients with TB<\/strong> who are <strong>notified to the government<\/strong> on or <strong>after April 1, 2018,<\/strong> including those who are already being treated for TB, are eligible for financial incentives.<\/li>\n<li>To be eligible for the incentives, patients <strong>must be registered<\/strong> or notified <strong>on the NIKSHAY portal.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Benefits<\/strong>: Financial incentive of <strong>Rs.1000\/- per month<\/strong> for each notified TB patient <strong>for duration <\/strong>for which the patient is <strong>on anti-TB treatment.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The incentives can be <strong>distributed in Cash (only via DBT,<\/strong> preferably through Aadhaar enabled bank accounts) or in-kind.<\/li>\n<li>This scheme is <strong>implemented across all States and UTs<\/strong> in India.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1<\/strong>: What is tuberculosis (TB)?<\/h3>\n<p>Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease that most often affects the lungs and is caused by a type of bacteria. It spreads through the air when infected people cough, sneeze or spit.
