{"id":27188,"date":"2024-10-11T12:21:11","date_gmt":"2024-10-11T06:51:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=27188"},"modified":"2025-10-11T11:30:54","modified_gmt":"2025-10-11T06:00:54","slug":"climate-risk-information-system","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/climate-risk-information-system\/","title":{"rendered":"Climate Risk Information System"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Climate Risk Information System:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It will <strong>bridge the gap in climate-related data<\/strong> that is currently available in a fragmented manner.<\/li>\n<li>Presently the available climate related data is characterised by various gaps such as fragmented and varied sources, differing formats, frequencies and units.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>It will comprise of <strong>two parts<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>o The first part will be a <strong>web-based directory<\/strong>, listing various data sources, (meteorological, geospatial, etc.) which will be publicly accessible in the RBI website.<\/p>\n<p>o The <strong>second part<\/strong> will be a data portal comprising datasets (processed data in standardised formats).<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/reserve-bank-of-india\/\" target=\"_blank\">RBI<\/a> plans a <strong>phased launch <\/strong>of RB-CRIS starting with the web-based directory, followed by a gradual introduction of the data portal for regulated entities to ensure smooth adaptation.<\/li>\n<li>It is crucial for regulated entities <strong>to undertake climate risk assessments<\/strong> for ensuring stability of their balance sheets and that of the financial system.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>On February 28, 2024, RBI had issued draft guidelines for a &#8216;Disclosure Framework on Climate-Related Financial Risks,&#8217; requiring regulated entities (REs) to disclose information across four key areas: governance, strategy, risk management, and metrics and targets.<\/li>\n<li>The framework aims to inform stakeholders\u2014such as regulators, investors, and customers\u2014about the climate-related risks faced by REs and their strategies for addressing these issues.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1: What is Climate change?<\/h3>\n<p>It refers to long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns.
