It <strong>transmits essential details<\/strong> such as the recipient\u2019s account information and transfer amount.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Headquartered<\/strong> in <strong>La Hulpe, Belgium<\/strong>, the system is <strong>overseen by the central banks of<\/strong> the <strong>G10 countries,<\/strong> the <strong>European Central Bank<\/strong>, and the <strong>National Bank of Belgium<\/strong>.\u00a0\n<ul>\n<li>Its <strong>shareholders<\/strong> represent around <strong>3,500 member organisations<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>SWIFT shareholders elect a board of 25 directors who govern the organisation and oversee management of the SWIFT system.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Because membership in SWIFT allows countries to easily conduct international financial transactions, <strong>exclusion from SWIFT is an economic sanction<\/strong> that can be <strong>used against countries <\/strong>whose actions are condemned by the global community.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1<\/strong>: What are G10 countries?<\/h3>\n<p>The Group of Ten (G10) consists of 11 industrialized nations that meet on an annual basis or more to consult, debate, and cooperate on international finance.
