{"id":27436,"date":"2024-10-21T12:00:14","date_gmt":"2024-10-21T06:30:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=27436"},"modified":"2025-10-13T13:50:19","modified_gmt":"2025-10-13T08:20:19","slug":"exercise-naseem-al-bahr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/exercise-naseem-al-bahr\/","title":{"rendered":"Exercise Naseem-Al-Bahr"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Exercise Naseem-Al-Bahr:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a<strong> bilateral<\/strong> naval exercise between <strong>India and Oman.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It was <strong>initiated in 1993<\/strong>, symbolises the long term strategic relationship between the two countries.\u00a0\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Oman is the first country<\/strong> in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) which has been conducting bilateral exercises with India jointly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The exercise was conducted in <strong>two phases<\/strong>: with the harbour<strong> phase<\/strong> followed by the <strong>sea phase.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>As part of harbour activities, personnel from both Navies engaged in professional interactions, including Subject Matter Expert Exchanges and planning conferences. In addition, sports fixtures and social engagements were also held.<\/li>\n<li>During the sea phase of the exercise both ships carried out various evolutions, including gun firings at surface inflatable targets, close-range anti-aircraft firings, manoeuvres, and <strong>Replenishment at Sea Approaches (RASAPS).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The integral helicopter operated from INS Trikand and undertook cross-deck landings and vertical replenishment (VERTREP) with RNOV Al Seeb.<\/li>\n<li>Additionally, the Indian Navy\u2019s Dornier aircraft provided <strong>Over-the-Horizon Targeting<\/strong> (OTHT) data with the participating ships.<\/li>\n<li>Significance: The exercise helped strengthen interoperability and enhanced understanding of each other\u2019s best practices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1: What is INS Trikand?<\/h3>\n<p><strong>INS Trikand<\/strong> is a frontline frigate equipped with a versatile range of weapons and sensors. The ship is a part of the Indian Navy&#8217;s Western Fleet, based in Mumbai.
