{"id":27526,"date":"2026-04-10T11:42:20","date_gmt":"2026-04-10T06:12:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=27526"},"modified":"2026-04-10T12:32:22","modified_gmt":"2026-04-10T07:02:22","slug":"indian-council-for-cultural-relations-iccr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/indian-council-for-cultural-relations-iccr\/","title":{"rendered":"Indian Council for Cultural Relations"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Indian Council for Cultural Relations Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Minister of State for External Affairs, attended a community reception in Yangon, Myanmar and underscores Indian Council for Cultural Relations efforts in strengthening cultural ties.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Indian Council for Cultural Relations<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is an <\/span><b>autonomous body under the Ministry of External Affairs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Government of India.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ICCR was <\/span><b>founded in 1950 by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, independent India\u2019s first Education Minister.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is involved in <\/span><b>India\u2019s external cultural relations<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> through cultural exchange with other countries and their people.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It promotes, through its network of <\/span><b>cultural centres, Indian culture abroad.<\/b><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Objectives<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To actively participate in the formulation and implementation of policies and programmes pertaining to India\u2019s external cultural relations;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To foster and strengthen cultural relations and mutual understanding between India and other countries;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To promote cultural exchanges with other countries and people;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It administers <\/span><b>various scholarship programs annually<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and awards about 3000+ scholarships under <\/span><b>21 different schemes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to foreign students from about 180 countries.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Amongst these 21 schemes, <\/span><b>six are funded by ICCR from its grant, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and others are administered on behalf of MEA and the Ministry of Ayush.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The scholarships offer studies in a variety of courses from undergraduate to postdoctoral level in different leading universities and educational institutions spread all over India.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source:<\/b> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsonair.gov.in\/mos-kirti-vardhan-singh-attends-community-reception-in-yangon-underscores-iccr-efforts-in-strengthening-cultural-ties\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">News On Air<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Indian Council for Cultural Relations is an autonomous body under the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.
