{"id":27581,"date":"2024-10-27T05:38:51","date_gmt":"2024-10-27T00:08:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=27581"},"modified":"2025-04-08T10:46:24","modified_gmt":"2025-04-08T05:16:24","slug":"pandemic-fund-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/pandemic-fund-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Pandemic Fund Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Pandemic Fund Project:\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a <strong>$25 Million<\/strong> initiative funded by the <strong>G20 Pandemic Fund.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is designed to enhance the country\u2019s \u201c<strong>animal health security<\/strong>\u201d by upgrading and expanding animal health laboratories and developing laboratory networks.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Implementation partners:<\/strong> The fund is to be implemented in partnership with the <strong>Asian Development Bank<\/strong> (ADB), the <strong>World Bank and the Food and Agriculture Organization<\/strong> (FAO) and to be utilised by August 2026.\u00a0\n<ul>\n<li>The Fund supports the existing initiatives of the department through enhancing <strong>disease surveillance, including genomic and environmental surveillance<\/strong> for early warning, laboratory infrastructure development, cross-border collaboration, and will create a more integrated system for monitoring and managing \u201czoonotic\u201d diseases.<\/li>\n<li>The Fund is also aimed at developing <strong>human capacity-building initiatives<\/strong> to enhance the skills and capabilities of animal health human resources.<\/li>\n<li>It will also be used to <strong>upgrade data management systems<\/strong>, and enhancing analytics capabilities will enable better risk assessment, improved decision-making and more effective communication strategies related to animal health risks.<\/li>\n<li>The project hopes to <strong>strengthen institutional capacity<\/strong> at both national and regional levels by supporting the development of a disaster management framework for the livestock sector.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1: What is the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO)?<\/h3>\n<p>It is a specialized agency of the United Nations (UN) that leads international efforts to defeat hunger.
