


{"id":27712,"date":"2026-05-14T11:30:30","date_gmt":"2026-05-14T06:00:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=27712"},"modified":"2026-05-14T12:59:26","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T07:29:26","slug":"thadou-tribe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/thadou-tribe\/","title":{"rendered":"Thadou Tribe"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Thadou Tribe Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Three Thadou Tribe Church Leaders were shot dead and several others injured after unidentified armed men ambushed their vehicles in Manipur&#8217;s Kangpokpi district recently.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Thadou Tribe<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They are an <\/span><b>indigenous people <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">residing <\/span><b>primarily <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in the State of <\/span><b>Manipur <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in India, as well as in the surrounding regions encompassing parts of<\/span><b> other Northeastern Indian States<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>neighbouring Myanmar.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>In Manipur,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> they primarily live in the <\/span><b>hill country adjacent to the Imphal Valley.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Thadous are the second-largest tribe in Manipur, preceded only by the Meiteis, or Manipuris.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the 2011 census, the total Thadou population in Manipur was 190,595.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Thadou <\/span><b>share many cultural affinities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with the many other <\/span><b>tribal groups who live near them.\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thadous share a <\/span><b>common culture with all the Chin-<a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/who-are-kukis\/\" target=\"_blank\">Kuki<\/a>-Mizo community.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Language<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: The Thadou language belongs to the <\/span><b>Tibeto-Burman family <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of the Sino-Tibetan languages.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thadou <\/span><b>settlements <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are <\/span><b>located in forests<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
