{"id":27728,"date":"2024-11-03T11:21:38","date_gmt":"2024-11-03T05:51:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=27728"},"modified":"2025-04-08T11:52:10","modified_gmt":"2025-04-08T06:22:10","slug":"first-in-the-world-challenge-initiative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/first-in-the-world-challenge-initiative\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cFirst in the World Challenge\u201d Initiative"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About \u201cFirst in the World Challenge\u201d Initiative:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The \u201cFirst in the World\u201d Challenge, inspired by the success of Chandrayaan-3, is a major initiative of the <strong>Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR<\/strong>) designed to promote the <strong>development of groundbreaking health technologies.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The scheme <strong>aims to foster novel, out-of-the box, futuristic ideas<\/strong>, <strong>new knowledge generation<\/strong>, discovery\/development of <strong>breakthrough health technologies<\/strong> (vaccines, drugs\/therapeutics, diagnostics, interventions, etc.) <strong>that have never been thought of<\/strong>, <strong>tested, or tried<\/strong> in the world till date.<\/li>\n<li>This high-risk, high-reward program will <strong>provide funding for projects at various stages<\/strong>, from proof-of-concept to prototype and final product development.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>proposal must have bold research ideas<\/strong> with significant wide-ranging impact and, if successful, should have <strong>potential \u2018first of its kind\u2019<\/strong> biomedical and technological <strong>innovations for better health outcomes<\/strong> in the global context.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Proposals aiming for \u2018incremental\u2019 knowledge\u2019 or \u2018process innovation<\/strong> \u2018<strong>will not be funded<\/strong> through this scheme.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>proposals can be submitted by<\/strong> an <strong>individual or by a team<\/strong> of researchers (either from a single institute or from multiple institutes).\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Every team<\/strong> application <strong>must designate one Principal Investigator<\/strong> from the team who will be responsible for technical, administrative, and financial deliverables.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Selection<\/strong>: A <strong>selection committee<\/strong> will be <strong>formed by experts<\/strong> of high repute, <strong>innovators, policymakers and scientists <\/strong>with outstanding record of conducting research and innovation in the biomedical domain.<\/li>\n<li>This initiative will inspire our scientists to come up with innovative ideas for finding solutions to difficult health problems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1<\/strong>: What is the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)?<\/h3>\n<p>The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi is the apex body in India for the formulation, coordination, and promotion of biomedical research.
