This capability will enable scientists to observe the Sun\u2019s corona, a region typically obscured by the intense brightness of the Sun.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It consists of <\/span><b>two small satellites<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2014 a <\/span><b>Coronagraph spacecraft<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and a <\/span><b>solar-disc-shaped Occulter spacecraft.<\/b><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Working<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By flying in tight formation about 150 metres apart, the Occulter will precisely cast its shadow onto the Coronagraph\u2019s telescope, blocking the Sun\u2019s direct light.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This will allow the Coronagraph to <\/span><b>image the faint solar corona in visible<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, ultraviolet and polarised light for many hours at a time.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It will provide new <\/span><b>insights into the origins of coronal mass ejections<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (CMEs) \u2014 eruptions of solar material that can disrupt satellites and power grids on Earth.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The mission will also <\/span><b>measure total solar irradiance<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, tracking changes in the Sun\u2019s energy output that may influence Earth\u2019s climate.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.indiatoday.in\/science\/story\/esa-proba-3-coronagraph-spacecraft-lost-contact-sun-power-failure-2878617-2026-03-07\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">IT<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Proba-3 Mission is the European Space Agency\u2019s (ESA) first mission dedicated to precision formation flying.
