


{"id":27867,"date":"2025-10-27T11:16:10","date_gmt":"2025-10-27T05:46:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=27867"},"modified":"2025-10-29T15:16:56","modified_gmt":"2025-10-29T09:46:56","slug":"kayakalp-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/kayakalp-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"What is Kayakalp Scheme?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Kayakalp Scheme:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is an initiative launched by the <strong>Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW)<\/strong> on May 15, 2015, <strong>under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan<\/strong> to <strong>promote cleanliness<\/strong> and enhance the <strong>quality of healthcare facilities in India.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Objectives:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>To <strong>promote cleanliness, hygiene<\/strong>, <strong>infection control<\/strong>, and environment-friendly practices <strong>in Public Health Facilities (PHFs).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>To <strong>incentivise and recognise PHFs<\/strong> that show exemplary performance in adhering to standard cleanliness and infection control protocols.<\/li>\n<li>To inculcate a culture of ongoing <strong>assessment and peer review of performance<\/strong> related to hygiene, cleanliness, and sanitation.<\/li>\n<li>To <strong>create and share sustainable practices<\/strong> related to improved cleanliness in PHFs <strong>linked to positive health outcomes.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The Kayakalp assessment is a <strong>three-tier process<\/strong> involving <strong>internal, peer, and external assessment<\/strong>. At the beginning of each financial year, a health facility is assessed, scored, and documented using the pre-defined assessment tool.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>parameters<\/strong> on which the performance of the facility would be judged are as follows:\n<ul>\n<li>Hospital\/Facility Upkeep<\/li>\n<li>Sanitation and Hygiene<\/li>\n<li>Waste Management<\/li>\n<li>Infection Control<\/li>\n<li>Support Services<\/li>\n<li>Hygiene Promotion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>To appreciate the hard work and dedication of the healthcare centres, <strong>five awards are provided<\/strong> under this scheme:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Two best district hospital<\/strong>s.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Two best community health centres<\/strong> or sub-district hospitals<\/li>\n<li><strong>One primary health centre in every district.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cash awards and citations<\/strong> are provided to the winners judged by the set criteria.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1<\/strong>: What is Swachh Bharat Abhiyan?<\/h3>\n<p>Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is a nationwide campaign launched by the Government of India to promote cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation in urban and rural areas.
