{"id":27895,"date":"2024-11-12T08:48:51","date_gmt":"2024-11-12T03:18:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=27895"},"modified":"2025-10-10T12:10:45","modified_gmt":"2025-10-10T06:40:45","slug":"ev-as-a-service-programme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/ev-as-a-service-programme\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;EV as a Service&#8217; Programme"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About &#8216;EV as a Service&#8217; Programme:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It aims to <strong>boost e-mobility in government offices<\/strong>; to deploy 5,000 E-Cars in government departments over the next two years.<\/li>\n<li>It is an <strong>initiative of Convergence Energy Services Limited<\/strong> (CESL), a subsidiary of Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL)<\/li>\n<li>By leveraging a flexible procurement model, the programme allows for the deployment of a variety of E-Car makes\/models, enabling Govt. offices to choose E-Cars that best align with their operational requirements.<\/li>\n<li>It may be noted that CESL has already deployed nearly 2000 nos. of E-Cars across India and is also facilitating the deployment of approx. 17,000 E-Buses.<\/li>\n<li>It not only supports the government\u2019s environmental sustainability vision, but also aligns with India\u2019s ambitious goal of <strong>achieving net zero emissions by 2070.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What is CESL?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a newly established subsidiary of <strong>state-owned Energy Efficiency Services Limited<\/strong>, itself a joint venture of public sector companies under <strong>the Ministry of Power, Government of India.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It builds upon the <strong>decentralized solar development experience<\/strong> in under-served rural communities in India, and over time, using battery energy storage, will deliver renewable energy solutions to power agricultural pumps, street lighting, domestic lighting and cooking appliances in villages.<\/li>\n<li>CESL will also work to enable battery powered electric mobility and its infrastructure and design business models to increase the uptake of electric vehicles in India.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1: What is Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL)?<\/h3>\n<p>EESL is promoted by the Ministry of Power, Government of India, as a Joint Venture of four reputed public-sector undertakings NTPC Limited, Power Finance Corporation Limited, REC Limited and POWERGRID Corporation of India Limited.
