{"id":2790,"date":"2023-02-22T11:01:00","date_gmt":"2023-02-22T05:31:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=2790"},"modified":"2025-03-26T00:18:19","modified_gmt":"2025-03-25T18:48:19","slug":"new-wheat-variety-hd-3385","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/new-wheat-variety-hd-3385\/","title":{"rendered":"New Wheat Variety (HD-3385)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About HD-3385:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is the <strong>third HD variant wheat variety<\/strong> which looks most promising.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0With the same yields as HD-3410, plant height of just 95 cm and strong stems.<\/li>\n<li>It is the least lodging-prone and most <strong>amenable for early sowing.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>This variety, sown this time at IARI\u2019s trial fields on October 22, has reached the pollination stage.<\/li>\n<li>IARI has registered HD-3385 with the Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers\u2019 Rights Authority (PPVFRA).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Key facts about Wheat<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wheat is the second most important cereal crop in India after rice.<\/li>\n<li>It is the main food crop, in the northern and north-western parts of the country.<\/li>\n<li>It is a Rabi crop that requires a <strong>cool growing season<\/strong> and <strong>bright sunshine at the time of ripening.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Temperature:<\/strong> Between 10-15\u00b0C (Sowing time) and 21-26\u00b0C (Ripening &amp; Harvesting) with bright sunlight.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Rainfall:<\/strong> Around 75-100 cm.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0<strong>Soil required:<\/strong> Well-drained fertile loamy and clayey loamy (Ganga-Satluj plains and black soil region of the Deccan).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What is the Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers\u2019 Rights Authority?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Govt. of India enacted \u201cThe Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers&#8217; Rights (PPV&amp;FR) Act, 2001\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>To implement the provisions of the Act the <strong>Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare <\/strong>established the Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers&#8217; Rights Authority in 2005.<\/li>\n<li>The Chairperson is the Chief Executive of the Authority.
