They play an important role in all\u00a0<strong>biogeochemical cycles<\/strong>, soil formation, mineral purification, degradation of organic wastes and toxic pollutants along with methane production.<\/li>\n<li>Cumulatively they help to maintain the\u00a0<strong>homeostasis in our planet.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>In agriculture, they help in nutrient cycling, nitrogen fixation, maintaining soil fertility, controlling pest and weeds and stress responses.<\/li>\n<li>Microorganisms are symbiotically<strong>\u00a0associated with plants<\/strong>\u00a0and help them in nutrient and water uptake.<\/li>\n<li>There are many more microbial cells than the number of human cells in a human body. They are essential for our digestion, immunity and even mental health.<\/li>\n<li>All infectious diseases are mainly caused by pathogenic microorganisms.
