{"id":28111,"date":"2025-10-29T12:09:25","date_gmt":"2025-10-29T06:39:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=28111"},"modified":"2025-10-29T13:32:23","modified_gmt":"2025-10-29T08:02:23","slug":"cloud-seeding-in-delhi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/cloud-seeding-in-delhi\/","title":{"rendered":"Cloud Seeding"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Cloud Seeding Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, a small aircraft known as the Cessna 206H conducted a cloud seeding trial in Delhi amid the recent spike in air pollution.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Cloud Seeding<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a weather-modification technique used to <\/span><b>modify suitable clouds<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with \u2018<\/span><b>seed\u2019 particles to increase rainfall.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To induce rain artificially, clouds are usually injected with salts <\/span><b>like silver iodide, potassium iodide, or sodium chloride<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which is the \u2018seed\u2019.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These salts are expected to provide additional nuclei around which more cloud droplets can form.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They are dispersed into the cloud either using aircraft or through generators on the ground.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Meteorological Requirements for Cloud Seeding<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Sufficient moisture:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The target clouds must <\/span><b>contain an adequate amount of water vapour<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and liquid water to be condensed into precipitation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Cloud characteristics:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Clouds targeted for seeding must have <\/span><b>sufficient vertical thickness<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
