{"id":28193,"date":"2024-11-23T08:52:57","date_gmt":"2024-11-23T03:22:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=28193"},"modified":"2025-04-08T17:26:31","modified_gmt":"2025-04-08T11:56:31","slug":"trishna-wildlife-sanctuary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/trishna-wildlife-sanctuary\/","title":{"rendered":"Trishna Wildlife Sanctuary"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Trishna Wildlife Sanctuary:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is situated in <strong>South Tripura District.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Occupying an area of 197.7 sq. km., it was established in 1988.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Vegetation<\/strong>: Three types of forests are found in the Sanctuary: <strong>Tropical Semievergreen Forest, Moist Mixed Deciduous Forest, and Savanah woodland.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Apart from the forest, the sanctuary has a number of <strong>perennial water rivulets<\/strong>, <strong>waterbodies,<\/strong> and grasslands.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Flora<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>The sanctuary is dotted with 230 tree species, 400 herbs, 110 shrubs, and 150 climbers.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Medicinal plants<\/strong> can also be seen here. Some of the prominent medicinal plant species are <strong>Kurcha, Tulsi, Vasak, Sarpaganda<\/strong>, Rudraksha, Bel, etc.<\/li>\n<li>One species of <strong>Bamboo Oxytenanthera nigrociliata, locally known as Kaillai,<\/strong> is common here, leaves of which are <strong>liked by Gaur.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fauna<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>The great attraction of this sanctuary is a <strong>sizeable population of Gaur or Indian Bison.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is also the <strong>home to highly endangered only ape species of the Indian subcontinent<\/strong> i.e, <strong>the Hoolock Gibbon,<\/strong> and primates like <strong>Capped Langur and Golden Langur.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Other animals include Leopards, Wild cats, Pheasants, Lalmukh Bandars, Wild Boars, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1<\/strong>: What is a Deciduous Forest?<\/h3>\n<p>Deciduous forests are terrestrial ecosystems characterized by trees and shrubs that shed their leaves seasonally, typically in response to changes in temperature or rainfall.
