{"id":28244,"date":"2024-11-26T04:51:19","date_gmt":"2024-11-25T23:21:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=28244"},"modified":"2025-04-08T17:50:00","modified_gmt":"2025-04-08T12:20:00","slug":"gelephu-mindfulness-city-gmc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/gelephu-mindfulness-city-gmc\/","title":{"rendered":"Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC):<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is an innovative <strong>urban development project<\/strong> that integrates economic growth with mindfulness, holistic living, and sustainability.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The GMC project has been envisioned by the King of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>It is located in the <strong>south-central part of Bhutan<\/strong> and covers over 2500 square kilometers (bigger than Singapore).<\/li>\n<li>It is a first-of-its-kind <strong>Special Administrative Region (SAR) in Bhutan.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It would directly benefit India in many ways since this city has been purposely placed <strong>along the border with India in Assam<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Features of GMC:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The city will be <strong>built around a series of inhabitable bridges.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is expected to be a <strong>low-rise city<\/strong> which will have its own university and health care facilities for both western and traditional medicine.<\/li>\n<li>The planned city will have <strong>eleven \u201cribbonlike neighborhoods<\/strong>\u201d that incorporate the area\u2019s 35 rivers and streams.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Neighborhoods<\/strong> will be<strong> designed like mandalas<\/strong>, with <strong>repeated patterns<\/strong> organized <strong>around a central public space<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The city will have its <strong>own international airport.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It will also have several markets and spiritual centres.<\/li>\n<li>To protect against flooding, paddy fields will be built along the rivers, \u201cforming urban terraces that cascade down from the hills to the valley,\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>It will have <strong>its own government<\/strong> and have the <strong>independence to have its own law making<\/strong>, as well as an <strong>independent judiciary<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The GMC will have two protected areas &#8211; a national park and a wildlife sanctuary.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1<\/strong>: Which all countries border Bhutan?<\/h3>\n<p>The Kingdom of Bhutan is a sovereign nation located towards the eastern extreme of the Himalayas mountain range.
