


{"id":28386,"date":"2025-08-05T12:47:04","date_gmt":"2025-08-05T07:17:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=28386"},"modified":"2025-08-05T13:32:35","modified_gmt":"2025-08-05T08:02:35","slug":"rs-28-sarmat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/rs-28-sarmat\/","title":{"rendered":"RS-28 Sarmat"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>RS-28 Sarmat Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As tensions escalate between the United States and Russia, the spotlight is back on one of the deadliest weapons in Russia\u2019s nuclear arsenal, the RS-28 Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), dubbed \u2018Satan 2\u2019 by NATO. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About RS-28 Sarmat<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The RS-28 Sarmat is <\/span><b>Russia\u2019s <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">new generation <\/span><b>intercontinental ballistic missile.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is named after the Sarmatian people of the fourth and fifth century BC.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has also been <\/span><b>referred to in the West as the \u201cSatan II\u201d.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>RS-28 Sarmat <\/b><b>Features<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>three-stage, liquid-fueled<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> missile with a <\/span><b>range of 18,000 km<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and a l<\/span><b>aunch weight<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of more than <\/span><b>208 tonnes.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the <\/span><b>world&#8217;s heaviest ICBM.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The missile is 35.3 meters long and 3 meters in diameter.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Maximum speed <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of <\/span><b>25,500 kph (about Mach 20).\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It can carry a 10-ton payload and can load a wide variety of warhead options.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It can <\/span><b>carry up to 16 independently targetable nuclear warheads<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as well as <\/span><b>Avangard hypersonic glide vehicles.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Each warhead <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">gets its guidance system, <\/span><b>using inertial navigation, GLONASS <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Russia\u2019s GNSS), <\/span><b>and Astro-inertial tech to stay on target.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While the RS-28 Sarmat can be launched much like a regular ICBM, it is thought to be <\/span><b>also capable of<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> what is called <\/span><b>fractional orbital bombardment.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A fractional orbital bombardment means <\/span><b>firing an ICBM into a low orbit<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the Earth \u2013 much <\/span><b>lower than a conventional firing<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 <\/span><b>potentially in the opposite direction to the target.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\">The Sarmat reportedly could <b style=\"font-size: inherit;\">deliver warheads 2,000 times as powerful<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as the <\/span><b style=\"font-size: inherit;\">atom bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in 1945.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.news18.com\/world\/russias-rs-28-sarmat-the-missile-that-can-strike-over-the-poles-outrange-us-and-china-ws-akl-9482901.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">N18<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RS-28 Sarmat is a liquid-fueled intercontinental ballistic missile developed by Russia.
