{"id":28688,"date":"2024-12-13T07:20:36","date_gmt":"2024-12-13T01:50:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=28688"},"modified":"2025-04-08T21:21:08","modified_gmt":"2025-04-08T15:51:08","slug":"athlete-biological-passport","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/athlete-biological-passport\/","title":{"rendered":"Athlete Biological Passport"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Athlete Biological Passport:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is an <strong>advanced anti-doping tool<\/strong> that monitors an athlete&#8217;s biological markers over time.<\/li>\n<li>By analyzing variations in parameters such as <strong>blood and steroid profiles<\/strong>, the ABP helps to ensure fair play in sports and to protect clean athletes.<\/li>\n<li>It works against doping through <strong>enhanced target testing and analysis<\/strong>, investigations, deterrence, and as indirect evidence for use of prohibited methods or substances.<\/li>\n<li>The principal <strong>objectives <\/strong>of the ABP program are the following:\n<ul>\n<li>It can be used to conduct targeted, conventional anti-doping tests on athletes with abnormal profiles.<\/li>\n<li>It can also be used as corroborating evidence of doping during an anti-doping rule violation case.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Currently three modules were implemented in ABP program:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Haematological Module:\u00a0<\/strong> The Haematological Module collects information on Markers of blood doping. This module aims to identify <strong>the Use of Prohibited Substances and\/or Prohibited Methods<\/strong> for the enhancement of oxygen transport or delivery.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Steroidal Module:<\/strong> The Steroidal Module collects information on Markers of steroid doping measured in urine\u00d8 and\/or serum Samples. The module aims to identify <strong>endogenous anabolic androgenic steroids<\/strong> (EAAS) when administered exogenously.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Endocrine Module:<\/strong> The Endocrine Module collects information on Markers of hGH doping. The module aims to <strong>identify human growth harmone (hGH) use<\/strong> and as well as use of hGH analogs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1: What is the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA)?<\/h3>\n<p>WADA was established in 1999 as an international independent agency to lead a collaborative worldwide movement for doping-free sport.
