


{"id":28751,"date":"2024-12-15T05:18:25","date_gmt":"2024-12-14T23:48:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=28751"},"modified":"2025-04-08T21:49:58","modified_gmt":"2025-04-08T16:19:58","slug":"malwa-canal-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/malwa-canal-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Malwa Canal Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Malwa Canal Project:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a planned irrigation and water management project in <strong>Punjab<\/strong>, India.<\/li>\n<li>It is the <strong>first of its kind <\/strong>to be constructed <strong>in Punjab since independence<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Estimated to cost <strong>Rs 2,300 crore<\/strong>, the canal will <strong>originate from<\/strong> the <strong>Harike headworks on the Sutlej<\/strong> in Ferozepur district.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>It will tail off at Warring Khera village in Muktsar district, close to the border with Haryana, and will <strong>flow parallel to the Sirhind Feeder and Rajasthan Feeder canals<\/strong>, to the latter\u2019s east.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The canal will be 149 km long, 50 feet wide, and 12.6 feet deep.<\/li>\n<li>It will carry 2,000 cusecs of water (A cusec is flow equivalent to 1 cubic foot per second.)<\/li>\n<li>It is designed to cater to the <strong>irrigation needs of nearly 2 lakh acres in southern Punjab<\/strong>, <strong>running parallel to<\/strong> the <strong>left bank of the Rajasthan Feeder Canal<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1<\/strong>: Which are the main tributaries of the Sutlej River?<\/h3>\n<p>It has many tributaries, with Baspa, Spiti, Nogli Khad, and Soan River being its main ones.
