It is known to be a powerful flier.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Habitat:<\/strong> It roosts in <strong>caves or dark, damp and little warm places<\/strong>, in moderate colony sizes.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Distribution:<\/strong> This bat species is <strong>primarily found in the Western Ghats,<\/strong> where there is only one known breeding colony. Small colonies have also been recorded in <strong>Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya<\/strong>, and a single individual was noted in Cambodia.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Conservation Status<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>IUCN: <\/strong>Data Deficient (Until 2000, the species was considered critically endangered because of a single known population in the Western Ghats. Later it was placed under this category).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972:<\/strong> Schedule I<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ecological significance: <\/strong>Ecologically important for <strong>regulating insect populations<\/strong> and is also known to <strong>assist in pollination.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1: What is Pollination?<\/h3>\n<p>It is the act of transferring pollen grains from the male anther of a flower to the female stigma.
