Following its <strong>amendment in 2020<\/strong>, all <strong>United Nations member states<\/strong> became eligible to join the ISA.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>headquarters<\/strong> of the ISA is located in <strong>Gurugram, India<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The ISA was <strong>conceptualised on the sidelines of COP21 in Paris in 2015<\/strong> as a collaborative initiative between <strong>India and France<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The ISA aims to unite global efforts in combating <strong>climate change<\/strong> through the implementation of <strong>solar energy solutions<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>mission<\/strong> of the ISA is guided by the <strong>\u2018Towards 1000\u2019 strategy<\/strong>, which focuses on three key goals:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Mobilizing USD 1,000 billion<\/strong> of investments in solar energy by <strong>2030<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Providing energy access to 1,000 million people<\/strong> worldwide.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Achieving the installation of 1,000 GW<\/strong> of solar energy capacity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>ISA Assembly<\/strong> is the <strong>apex decision-making body<\/strong> of the organization. It plays a crucial role in shaping policies and overseeing the implementation of the ISA\u2019s Framework Agreement.<\/li>\n<li>Currently, the ISA has <strong>104 member countries<\/strong> and <strong>16 signatory countries<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Key Initiatives of the International Solar Alliance (ISA)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Scaling Solar Applications for Agricultural Use (SSAAU):<\/strong> This program addresses the increasing demand for <strong>solar-powered water pumps<\/strong> to support agricultural activities.<\/li>\n<li><strong>ISA CARES:<\/strong> This initiative provides <strong>innovative and reliable solar energy solutions<\/strong> for healthcare systems in <strong>low- and middle-income countries<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Program on Solarizing Heating and Cooling Systems:<\/strong> This program aims to meet the <strong>growing heating and cooling demands<\/strong> in <strong>commercial, industrial, and residential sectors<\/strong> by facilitating solar-based solutions.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Global Solar Facility:<\/strong> Launched during <strong>COP27<\/strong>, this facility is designed to <strong>catalyze solar investments<\/strong> in underserved regions and <strong>geographies across Africa<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1. Is the International Solar Alliance (ISA) part of the United Nations?<\/h3>\n<p>No. ISA is not part of the United Nations, but the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has granted Observer Status to the International Solar Alliance (ISA).
