{"id":29050,"date":"2026-07-02T11:40:36","date_gmt":"2026-07-02T06:10:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=29050"},"modified":"2026-07-02T12:49:29","modified_gmt":"2026-07-02T07:19:29","slug":"national-rainfed-area-authority","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/national-rainfed-area-authority\/","title":{"rendered":"National Rainfed Area Authority"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>National Rainfed Area Authority Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the National Rainfed Area Authority (NRAA) has achieved a significant milestone in the conservation of India&#8217;s wild rice (Oryza rufipogon) genetic resources in Sonitpur District of Assam.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About National Rainfed Area Authority<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>established in 2006<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as an advisory body under the <\/span><b>Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers\u2019 Welfare.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It aims to promote <\/span><b>sustainable agriculture in rainfed regions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, enhance productivity, and improve the livelihoods of the farming communities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Mandate:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is wider than mere water conservation and covers all <\/span><b>aspects of sustainable and holistic development of rainfed areas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, including appropriate farming and livelihood system approaches.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Governance Structure<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Governing Board:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It provides necessary leadership and appropriate coordination in implementation of programmes.\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Governing Board is <\/span><b>chaired by the Union Agriculture Minister<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and co-chaired by the Union Minister of Rural Development.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Executive Committee:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It consists of technical experts and representatives from stakeholder Ministries.\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Executive Committee would <\/span><b>be headed by a full time Chief Executive Officer<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> who should be a recognized expert on the subject.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The CEO will be supported by <\/span><b>five full-time technical experts<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Headquarter:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is located in New Delhi.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2280202&amp;reg=3&amp;lang=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Rainfed Area Authority  was established in 2006 as an advisory body under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers\u2019 Welfare.
