(UDISE+)?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>UDISE+ is <strong>one of thelargest Management Information Systems<\/strong> initiated by the <strong>Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL), Ministry of Education<\/strong>, Government of India, covering more than 14.72 lakhs of schools, 98.08 lakhs of teachers, and 24.80 crores of children.<\/li>\n<li>UDISE+ is an <strong>online portal facility<\/strong> created by DoSEL for record of <strong>data related to schools, teachers, enrolment, infrastructure,<\/strong> etc. in respect of <strong>all recognized schools<\/strong> in the country.<\/li>\n<li>In UDISE+ school wise <strong>data is captured through Data Capture Format (DCF).<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Each school has been provided with a login ID and password for facilitating online data compilation by respective schools.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Head Teacher<\/strong>\/ Head Master of the school in all the States <strong>compiles the data,<\/strong> and it <strong>goes through a 3-stage validation<\/strong>\/verification process, viz., <strong>Block\/ Cluster level<\/strong>, <strong>District level, and State level<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>This data is <strong>finally certified by the State Project Director (SPD) at the State level.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The data once certified by SPD of the respective State is considered as approved by the State.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Therefore, <strong>data is entered in the UDISE+ portal by the respective State itself.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>UDISE+ data is the<strong> only pan-India<\/strong> and most trusted <strong>database in school education<\/strong> in the country.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Highlights of UDISE+ Report 2023-24:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>24.8 crore students enrolled in 2023-2024,<\/strong> while this figure stood at <strong>25.18 crore in 2022-2023<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The figures for the previous four years \u2013 26.52 crore (2021-2022), 26.44 crore (2020-2021), 26.45 crore (2019-2020), and 26.03 crore (2018-2019) \u2013 show that the average total enrolment stood around 26.36 crore.<\/li>\n<li>Data shows that <strong>when compared from<\/strong> the period between <strong>2018-2019 (reference year<\/strong> for UDISE+ data) and 2021-2022, the <strong>decline in enrolment<\/strong> \u2013 for the first time <strong>since the pandemic \u2013 has been over 1 crore<\/strong> between 2022-2023 and 2023-2024.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Boys account for 51.9% of enrolments<\/strong> and girls 48.1%.<\/li>\n<li>The representation of <strong>minorities<\/strong> in total enrolment stood at around <strong>20 percent.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Among the minorities, 79.6 percent were Muslims, 10 percent Christians, 6.9 percent Sikhs, 2.2 percent Buddhists, 1.3 percent Jains, and 0.1 percent Parsis.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>In 2023-2024, the total <strong>SC<\/strong> students enrolled were <strong>4.47 crore,<\/strong> while this figure was 4.59 crore in 2022-2023.<\/li>\n<li>While <strong>11.2 crore<\/strong> students enrolled in the <strong>OBC category<\/strong> in 2023-2024, the same was 11.45 crore in 2022-2023.<\/li>\n<li>While over <strong>90% of schools have basic amenities<\/strong> like electricity and gender-specific toilets, <strong>advanced facilities<\/strong> such as functional desktops, internet access, and ramps with handrails <strong>remain limited.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Only 57.2% of schools have functional computers, 53.9% have internet, and 52.3% are equipped with ramps,<\/strong> underscoring significant gaps in accessibility and tech readiness.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1<\/strong>: What is a Management Information System?<\/h3>\n<p>Management
