{"id":29186,"date":"2026-04-12T11:30:24","date_gmt":"2026-04-12T06:00:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=29186"},"modified":"2026-04-12T13:00:44","modified_gmt":"2026-04-12T07:30:44","slug":"export-inspection-council","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/export-inspection-council\/","title":{"rendered":"Export Inspection Council"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Export Inspection Council Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, India said that the requirement for a certificate of inspection from Export Inspection Council (EIC) for rice exports is limited to the EU, UK, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Export Inspection Council<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was set <\/span><b>up by the Government of India<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> under Section 3 of the <\/span><b>Export (Quality Control and Inspection) Act, 1963.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It ensures <\/span><b>sound development of export trade of India<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> through quality control and inspection and matters connected therewith.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the official export \u2013certification body of India which ensures quality and safety of products exported from India.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is <\/span><b>headed by a Chairman.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The Executive Head of the Council is the Director of Inspection &amp; Quality Control who is responsible for day to day functioning of the Council.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Functions<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It <\/span><b>ensures that products notified under the Export<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Quality Control and Inspection) Act 1963 are meeting the requirements of the importing countries in respect of their quality and safety.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It provides mandatory certification for various Food items namely fish &amp; fishery products, dairy product, honey, egg products, meat and meat products, poultry meat products, animal casing, Gelatine, Ossein and crushed bones and feed additive and pre-mixtures while other food and non-food products are certified on voluntary basis.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Export Inspection Agencies (EIAs) located at Mumbai, Kolkata, Kochi, Delhi and Chennai with a network of 30 sub offices backed by the state of art, <\/span><b>NABL accredited laboratories<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at various places.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Headquarter:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Delhi<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Nodal Ministry:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Ministry of Commerce and Industry.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/news\/economy\/foreign-trade\/rice-export-rules-relaxed-for-select-european-countries\/articleshow\/130179164.cms?from=mdr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">ET<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Export Inspection Council was set up by the Government of India under Section 3 of the Export (Quality Control and Inspection) Act, 1963.
