


{"id":29383,"date":"2025-01-13T04:11:59","date_gmt":"2025-01-12T22:41:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=29383"},"modified":"2025-04-09T02:40:39","modified_gmt":"2025-04-08T21:10:39","slug":"national-programme-for-organic-production","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/national-programme-for-organic-production\/","title":{"rendered":"National Programme for Organic Production"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About National Programme for Organic Production:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It was launched <strong>during 2001 and laid<\/strong> the foundation for systematic development of the organic<strong> agriculture sector in the country.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is a key government programme that strengthens <strong>India&#8217;s organic certification system<\/strong>, promoting sustainable farming practices and opening new opportunities for farmers and exporters.<\/li>\n<li>By setting high standards for organic products, NPOP enhances India\u2019s competitiveness in the global organic market, while helping farmers adopt eco-friendly and economically viable practices.<\/li>\n<li>The programme involves the accreditation of <strong>Certification Bodies, standards for organic production, promotion of organic farming<\/strong> and marketing etc.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Implementing agency: <\/strong>The <strong>Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA)<\/strong>, Ministry of Commerce &amp; Industries, Government of India is implementing this programme.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Highlights of the 8th Edition of NPOP<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It introduced key amendments aimed at promoting ease of operations and enhancing transparency for stakeholders, including farmers.\n<ul>\n<li>Certification requirements for organic grower groups have been simplified, and these groups are <strong>now granted legal status<\/strong> in place of the <strong>Internal Control System (ICS).<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Many portals launched in this edition namely<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>NPOP portal:<\/strong> The dedicated portal for the National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP) will provide more visibility and ease of operations for Organic stakeholders.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Organic Promotion Portal:<\/strong> Farmers, FPOs and exporters can showcase their certified organic products, generate Trade Leads and connect with global buyers.
