Islands, recently.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Mud Volcano<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>mound of mud heaved up through overlying sediments.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>craters <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are <\/span><b>usually shallow<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and may <\/span><b>intermittently erupt mud.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These <\/span><b>eruptions continuously rebuild the cones<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which are eroded relatively easily.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Some mud volcanoes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are <\/span><b>created by hot-spring activity<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> where large amounts of gas and small amounts of water react chemically with the surrounding rocks and <\/span><b>form a boiling mud.\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Variations <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are the <\/span><b>porridge pot<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (a <\/span><b>basin of boiling mud that erodes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> chunks of the <\/span><b>surrounding rock<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) and the <\/span><b>paint pot<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (a <\/span><b>basin of boiling mud<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that is<\/span><b> tinted yellow, green, or blue by minerals<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from the surrounding rocks).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Other mud volcanoes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, entirely of a <\/span><b>nonigneous origin, occur only in oil-field regions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that are relatively young and have soft, unconsolidated formations.\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under compactional stress, <\/span><b>methane and related hydrocarbon gases mixed with mud<\/b> <b>force their way upward and burst<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> through to the surface, <\/span><b>spewing mud<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> into a conelike shape.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Because of the compactional stress and the depth from which the mixture comes, the mud is often hot and may have an accompanying steam cloud.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mud volcanoes, also known as \u201csedimentary volcanoes\u201d or \u201cgas-oil volcanoes,\u201d are <\/span><b>close cousins to magmatic volcanoes.\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Like magmatic volcanoes, they can <\/span><b>erupt powerfully and hurl flames to great heights<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, sometimes even several hundred meters.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Instead of hot lava, it spits out mud, water, and gases<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from deep inside the Earth.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mud volcanoes<\/span><b> also exist on the floor of the sea<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and can form islands and banks that alter the topography and shape of the coastline.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Approximately<\/span><b> 1,000 mud volcanoes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have been identified <\/span><b>on land and in shallow water.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>In India, the only mud volcano lies in <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/baratang-island\/\" target=\"_blank\">Baratang Island<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a part of the <\/span><b>Andaman<\/b><span
