{"id":29548,"date":"2025-01-20T05:15:10","date_gmt":"2025-01-19T23:45:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=29548"},"modified":"2025-04-09T08:57:48","modified_gmt":"2025-04-09T03:27:48","slug":"national-disaster-response-force","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/national-disaster-response-force\/","title":{"rendered":"National Disaster Response Force"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About National Disaster Response Force:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It was established under section 44 of the <strong>Disaster Management Act, 2005.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is aimed at specialized response to <strong>natural and man-made disasters<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Initially <strong>established in 2006<\/strong> with 8 Battalions, the NDRF has now expanded to 16 Battalions, drawn from the CAPF, viz Border Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force, Central Industrial Security Force, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, Sashastra Seema Bal and Assam Rifles.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Role:<\/strong> It is a <strong>multi-skilled and highly specialist<\/strong> force capable of dealing with all types of natural and man-made disasters like Floods, Cyclone, Earthquakes, Landslides, Building-collapse, Trains and road accidents etc.<\/li>\n<li>The strategic deployment of NDRF resources, characterized by \u201cproactive availability\u201d and \u201cpre-positioning\u201d during imminent disaster situations, has proven instrumental in mitigating damages caused by natural calamities across the country.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>It has been very active in responding to natural disaster under <strong>multi-lateral and bi-lateral agreement at International level<\/strong>.\n<ul>\n<li>The NDRF teams responded during triple disaster (Earthquake, Tsunami and Radiation Leakage) of Fukushima, Japan in 2011 and during Earthquake in Nepal in 2015.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>It functions under the purview of the <strong>Ministry of Home Affairs<\/strong> (MHA) and is headed <strong>by a Director General.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1:What is the main role of the National Disaster Response Force?<\/h3>\n<p>The prime task of NDRF is to provide specialized response during disasters.
