{"id":29591,"date":"2025-01-22T08:28:58","date_gmt":"2025-01-22T02:58:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=29591"},"modified":"2025-04-09T09:17:35","modified_gmt":"2025-04-09T03:47:35","slug":"diamond-imprest-authorisation-dia-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/diamond-imprest-authorisation-dia-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"What is Diamond Imprest Authorisation (DIA) Scheme?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Diamond Imprest Authorisation (DIA) Scheme:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It was introduced by the <strong>Department of Commerce<\/strong>, Government of India, to <strong>allow duty-free import of natural cut and polished diamonds for export purposes<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The Scheme will be implemented with effect from 01.04.2025.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Key Features<\/strong> of the Scheme:\n<ul>\n<li>This scheme allows the <strong>duty-free import of Natural Cut and Polished Diamonds<\/strong>, <strong>of less than \u00bc Carat<\/strong> (25 Cents).<\/li>\n<li>This scheme <strong>mandates export obligation with value addition of 10%.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>All diamond exporters holding Two Star Export House status<\/strong> and above <strong>and having US $15 million exports per year are eligible<\/strong> for availing the benefit under this scheme.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The scheme is made <strong>in response to the beneficiation policies undertaken in<\/strong> a number of <strong>natural diamond mining countries<\/strong> like Botswana, Namibia, Angola, etc, where diamond manufacturers are obliged to open cut and polishing facilities for a minimum percentage of value addition.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Support for MSME Exporters<\/strong>: Designed to create a level playing field for MSMEs, the scheme enables smaller exporters to compete effectively with larger industry players.<\/li>\n<li>It is aimed towards retaining India\u2019s position as a global leader in the entire value chain of the diamond industry.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1<\/strong>. What is a Diamond?<\/h3>\n<p>A diamond is a naturally occurring mineral composed of carbon atoms arranged in a crystal lattice structure known as a diamond cubic crystal system.
