{"id":29804,"date":"2025-02-02T03:21:55","date_gmt":"2025-02-01T21:51:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=29804"},"modified":"2025-04-09T11:00:38","modified_gmt":"2025-04-09T05:30:38","slug":"inland-mangrove-of-guneri","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/inland-mangrove-of-guneri\/","title":{"rendered":"Inland mangrove of Guneri"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Inland Mangrove of Guneri Latest News<\/h2>\n<p>Recently, the Gujarat government declared the inland mangrove in Kutch district\u2019s Guneri village as the first Biodiversity Heritage Site of Gujarat.<\/p>\n<h2>\u00a0About Inland Mangrove of Guneri<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a <strong>natural inland mangrove<\/strong> site located in <strong>Kutch district of Gujarat.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is located at a distance of <strong>45 km from the Arabian Sea<\/strong> and four km <strong>from the Kori Creek,<\/strong> where seawater never approaches.<\/li>\n<li>It is also devoid of any sludge, and is spread over a flat piece of land like a forest.<\/li>\n<li>It is the last remains of <strong>inland mangrove<\/strong> in India.<\/li>\n<li>This inland mangrove is rare and has been reported from only eight locations across the globe till date.<\/li>\n<li>They are assumed to have originated <strong>either after the marine transgression<\/strong> which occurred in the area <strong>during the Miocene period<\/strong> or on the bank of the lost river (the Saraswati River) in the Great Rann of Kachchh.<\/li>\n<li>Studies elsewhere have reported that the <strong>inland mangroves survive<\/strong> in areas having <strong>limestone deposition<\/strong> which connects with the sea bed.<\/li>\n<li>The limestone provides a continuous flow of groundwater to the mangrove ecosystem\/vegetation. The Western Kutch and areas surrounding the Guneri mangroves have records of limestone depositions.<\/li>\n<li>The announcement has been done under the <strong>provisions of The Biodiversity Act, 2002<\/strong>.
